Hitster has put music guessing on a great many living-room tables, and deservedly so: it is a good game. But after a few plays some people hit its limits. You want to play with more people at once, or with the music of your own crowd. That is exactly where music bingo begins.
The games look alike because both revolve around recognition, but the mechanism differs fundamentally. In Hitster you guess when a song came out and build a timeline. In music bingo you recognise the song and mark it off on your card.
