Something not working the way you want at your music bingo? Below are the problems we see most, each with the fix. Pick a topic or just scroll down.
Most problems happen before the night starts, when you load your music. So do this a day in advance.
You paste the link, but the list is empty or songs are missing.
Your playlist is probably set to private. Then the app is not allowed to look inside. Open the playlist in Spotify, tap the three dots and choose Make public. Paste the link into the app again. You can set it back to private after the night.
Long Spotify playlists do not come in completely.
Spotify shares about 100 songs per playlist. Split your music over two or three playlists and paste the links below each other in the same field, one link per line. The app joins them and removes duplicates.
You see a message that it is not a playlist link.
Use the share link of a playlist from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music or Deezer. A link to a single song, an artist or a search result will not work. In your music app: tap Share, then Copy link.
During the game a short message appears and the app moves on to the next song.
No clip could be found for that song. The app skips it by itself, so the night keeps going. Want to know in advance? With Soundcheck (Bingo Master) the app checks every song and shows which ones to replace. The ready-made playlists in the app have already been checked.
The app asks for more songs.
You need at least 9 songs. For a fun night you want many more: about 55 songs for half an hour, 110 for an hour and 164 for an hour and a half. A clip lasts 30 seconds, about 33 seconds per song with the gong.
The music always comes from the phone or tablet running the app. The big screen makes no sound.
The app is playing, but no sound comes out of the speaker.
First check that the speaker is really connected (Bluetooth on, or the cable firmly in the phone). Turn the phone volume all the way up, then set the level on the speaker. On an iPhone the app also plays when the silent switch is on; on Android use the media volume, not the ringer volume.
In the middle of a song you hear a beep or the music stops.
Turn on Do Not Disturb before the night. Or turn on airplane mode and then switch only Wi-Fi back on. Calls and messages stay quiet, and you still have internet.
The clip comes from the middle of the song and the room looks puzzled.
That is part of the game: the clip is not always the chorus. Just play the next song. From version 1.8 you can tap 10 extra seconds to let the clip play longer.
There are gaps in the sound.
The clips stream over the internet. Use good Wi-Fi or 4G/5G and avoid a basement without signal. On the venue Wi-Fi and it keeps failing? Turn Wi-Fi off and try mobile data.
No. While you play, the app keeps the screen on. That uses battery, so plug the phone in if the night lasts longer than an hour.
Are your guests playing on their own phones? They do not need to install anything, but things can still go wrong.
The guest sees an error or does not know where to go.
Let the guest scan the QR code with the camera. Not working? Go to bingobanger.party and type the four-character game code. Check the code is typed correctly and that the guest has internet.
More people want to play than there are cards.
Each phone gets one card. The free version makes 6 cards, Bingo Master 50 and Bingo King 1000. Make more cards, or let people play in pairs or per table on one phone.
The guest lost their card.
No problem. Open the same link in the same browser on the same phone and the card and marks come back. A different browser or a private window knows nothing about the old card, so it gives a new one.
Let them play along with a neighbour. Marking together is often more fun. Prefer paper after all? Print the cards and make it a paper night.
Someone shouts BINGO. You want to know fast if it is real, without checking twenty-five squares by hand.
On paper: tap the bingo check and type the card code printed on the card. From version 1.8 you can also scan the QR code on the card. Guests playing on phones? Then the app sees it by itself and pauses the music as soon as someone has a valid bingo.
The app says the bingo is not valid.
Just keep playing. Make it fun: the false caller picks the next song or wears a silly hat until the next round.
Agree on it beforehand: two prizes, or whoever shouts first. It happens more often with a big group, so keep an extra prize at hand.
The free version plays for a row and for a full card. Bingo Master also unlocks four corners, column and diagonal.
Printing the cards? Two cards fit on one A4 sheet.
When printing choose A4 and actual size (100%). Turn off 'fit to page' or 'shrink to fit'.
A printed card is not recognised.
Every time you make cards they get new card codes and a new game code. Old printouts no longer belong to the game. Print the new cards, or do not make new cards once you have printed.
The free version makes 6 cards. Bingo Master makes 50 and Bingo King 1000. You pay once, there is no subscription.
You bought Bingo Master or Bingo King, but the app acts as if you did not.
Scroll all the way down in the app and tap Restore purchase. Use the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with.
A purchase belongs to the store where you made it: the App Store or Google Play. It does not move to the other system.
The big screen shows the game code, the QR code to join, the pattern of the round and who is close to bingo. The venue screen goes with playing on phones. Pick the way that suits your venue.
The easiest and most reliable way. You need: a laptop, an HDMI cable and internet.
Turn on the TV or projector.
Plug the HDMI cable into the TV and into the laptop.
Press Source or Input on the remote. Choose HDMI.
In the app, tap Play on phones and then Venue screen.
On the laptop, type the address from the app. For example:bingobanger.party/?zaal=K7QX
Make it full screen. Windows: F11. Mac: Ctrl + Cmd + F.
Plug in the laptop charger so it does not switch off.
Does the TV have internet itself? Then you do not need a laptop.
Turn on the TV.
Open the TV's internet app. It is often called Internet or Web browser.
In the app, tap Play on phones and then Venue screen.
Type the address from the app into the TV's internet app.
Done. Typing with a remote is slow: do this well before your guests arrive.
Handy when there is no cable. Use a second device for this, not the phone you run the bingo on.
In the app, tap Play on phones and then Venue screen.
Scan the QR code on the venue screen with the tablet or second phone.
iPhone or iPad: open Control Centre and tap Screen Mirroring. Choose your TV or Apple TV.
Android: in quick settings tap Cast or Screen cast (Samsung: Smart View). Choose your TV or Chromecast.
Turn the device sideways so the picture fills the TV.
Do not mirror the screen of the phone you run the bingo on. It shows the title of the song that is playing, so the whole room would see the answer. Use a laptop, smart TV or second device for the venue screen. Have to anyway? Turn on Hide titles in the app.
The sound comes from the phone running the app, not from the venue screen. Connect that phone to a speaker or to the venue sound system.
Wireless to a speaker. Works with almost any Bluetooth speaker.
Turn on the speaker and put it in pairing mode.
Turn on Bluetooth on the phone and choose the speaker.
Set the phone to full volume. Adjust the level on the speaker.
Turn on Do Not Disturb.
More reliable than Bluetooth, handy with a venue sound system.
Take a cable with a mini jack (3.5 mm). Newer phones need a small adapter.
Plug the cable into the speaker or sound system (often AUX).
Set the phone to full volume. Adjust the level on the system.
Turn on Do Not Disturb.
Ten things you want done before the first guest walks in.
