Make an indie and alternative music bingo

An indie and alternative music bingo is for the room that wants its hits a little different: guitars, Britpop and alt-rock instead of the obvious top 40.

With Bingo Banger you paste your own alternative playlist, and the app turns it into unique bingo cards. The Bingo Master plays the recognizable part of each song, so even the deep cuts land in the right place.

Music bingo for company parties, weddings, clubs, pubs and care homes

For the connoisseurs in the room

Where a guilty-pleasures bingo aims at singing along, an indie bingo plays on recognition and a bit of pride: who grabs that one guitar intro first? With your own list you decide how deep you go — from the big alt-rock hits to the B-sides only the real fans know.

Britpop, alt-rock and everything between

From Britpop classics and grunge hits to modern indie: the theme stretches as far as your taste. Because you build the playlist yourself, nobody gets stuck on a fixed list that is just not your scene.

This is how it sounds recognizable

The app finds the most recognizable clip for each song. Play it through your phone or connect it to the room's speaker so that guitar riff really lands. Unsure about an obscure record? Drop it and pick another.

04

Play the hits

The Bingo Master plays the recognizable part of every song and verifies each bingo through the card code.

Hosting your own music bingo

Traditional bingo uses numbers; this game uses songs, and that one twist is what makes it fun. There is no number to look up: people listen to the opening seconds, recognise the hit and players mark it off. You do not need a professional host or a trivia round to warm the room up, because the music does that for you. Most people know far more songs than they think.

Decide first what you want the evening to be. A short game of three rounds is perfect before dinner; a complete night of 90 minutes suits a party, a company event or a musical theme night. Whether your crowd grew up on the 90s or on last summer's charts, use their own music instead of a generic list: the best selection is the one where every player recognises something — a classic, a guilty pleasure, a recent hit. That is what gets people out of their seats.

The format is easy. Create the list, choose the card size and the win pattern, and give everyone a card with the song titles printed on it. Each song is played once, in a random order. The first person to fill a whole line shouts bingo, and the host verifies that call with the code along the side. Guests who would rather not use paper join online at bingobanger.party with your game code. Small prizes per round keep the energy up, and they do not have to be expensive.

Questions, or want a hand hosting your first game? Email robin@kreatrix.nl and we will get back to you within a working day. The app is free, six cards included.

Frequently asked questions

Can I really use obscure songs?

You build your own list, so you decide how deep you go. The app looks for a recognizable clip for every song; if that fails for a rare record, you just replace it.

Isn't this too hard for a mixed group?

Mix big alt-rock hits with a few deep cuts so both the connoisseurs and the rest recognize a song regularly. You keep control of the difficulty.

Which sources can I paste?

A link from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music or Deezer, or your own list of titles. The app collects the songs and removes duplicates.

How many songs do I need?

Allow about 33 seconds per song: an hour of play calls for around 110 titles. The app works out the exact number.
